How We Work

RASG has a non-formal membership.

Membership is for off trade retailers and specialist on-line retailers of alcohol in the UK.
The secretariat for RASG is provided in kind by the Wine and Spirit Trade Association. This includes providing the infrastructure and personnel required to administer the group. The registered office for the Group is the WSTA’s offices and the WSTA hold the trade rights to the Group’s logo.

RASG meetings are held quarterly – two all day in-person meetings and two shorter online meetings – with agenda and any other papers circulated before each meeting and minutes circulated after each meeting. The key aims of our meetings are:

  • To maintain and promote the Challenge 25 scheme across the UK.
  • To support and promote Community Alcohol Partnerships.
  • To share experiences of regulatory, licensing and/or compliance issues.
  • To update members of the latest changes that impact on licensing, compliance and operations.
  • To proactively engage with key stakeholders including Government, the police, local government and others.
  • To investigate further policies that promote the responsible retail of alcohol.

The Chair sets the strategic direction of the group in co-ordination with members and the secretariat. The Chair is Hardish Purewal, Senior Licensing Manager for Tesco PLC.
